The Agency Power Big Brake Kit for Can Am Maverick X3 is designed to substantially improve braking performance over the OE (Original Equipment) set up. The kit is engineered to be a direct bolt-on system and provides properly balanced braking in a variety of conditions. All brake components are manufactured in the USA using state-of-the-art manufacturing processes to provide a strong and reliable high performance kit! After extensive testing of different braking concepts and products already on the market, it was found that the X3 absolutely required a 4 wheel brake upgrade in order to be truly effective.

BRAKE CALIPERS

The brake calipers are a 2 piece construction with built-in “ears” for direct mount to the wheel carrier - By making them this way additional brackets and spacers are unneeded which improves rigidity and eliminates caliper flex from hard pedal pressure or the potential of pad knock back. Internally, the caliper is designed with a custom machined piston sizing to provide surface area coverage comparable to much larger vehicle brake kits. Studying vehicle behavior under braking enabled the engineers to come up with the proper piston bore for the front and rear calipers. This gives the X3 the perfect squat under hard braking while allowing optimal vehicle control as opposed to nose diving like the OE set up. The kit is designed to utilize the OE brake master cylinder, and OE steel braided brake lines. The OEM Master Cylinder and lines are sufficient to provide the performance necessary to work with the more robust calipers and rotors.  The caliper internals use high grade seals and hardware to withstand the harshest off-road conditions. A single side bleeder screw on each caliper makes bleeding the brakes a breeze and saves time. This is possible due to the internal cross over which allows brake fluid to flow to each side of the caliper with equal pressure applied to all pistons - The result is a clean look and efficient operation! 

BRAKE PADS

Brake pads are the most important part of any braking system. Without good pads no amount of braking pressure or system upgrades will matter! For the best performance, the kit is supplied to some of the best off-the-shelf brake pads available. With the focus on balance, getting the right friction for the front and rear is important. The front calipers are paired with Hawk Performance HP+ N-Compound while the rear uses a DR1-C ceramic pad. Once bedded-in properly, the brakes will provide outstanding performance without excess squeal. The pads are a common shape/fitment for easy access replacement from your manufacturer of choice. 

BRAKE ROTORS

Another very important component in a big brake kit is the rotors! The kit utilizes a 2 piece cast iron vented brake disc very similar to those found on high performance road cars. Cast iron dissipates heat much better than steel. Steel will hotspot and radiate heat back into the caliper causing the brake fluid to boil which will make brake performance inconsistent and potentially dangerous. Cast iron also has a higher coefficient of friction compared to the single thin stamped steel OE rotor. Each rotor is vented, slotted, and cross drilled. The rotors are designed to be directional, meaning that while the vehicle is in motion, the ducting vents act like a pump drawing in cool air to keep material temperatures as low as possible. The diameter of the rotors improve braking performance as the discs are much more proportionate to the size and weight of the vehicle. The ultimate goal is to have a braking system that out-performs the vehicle rather than the other way around! . 

NOTE: The Agency Power Big Brake Kit is sold as a 4 wheel brake system only and is designed to be used with 15 inch wheels. Fitment has been tested with common/popular wheels such as Method Race Wheels in both a 0mm and 13mm offset as well as Fuel Wheels 38mm offset. The brake kit will not clear the OE 14 inch wheels and is available in many different colors. Kits include a 1 year manufacture warranty against defects.
